What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual Direction is directly concerned with your experiences within your relationship with God. It is help given enabling you to identify God’s presence, movement, and personal communication to you throughout your life, while learning how to be open, aware, receptive, and responsive. The word “Spirit,” means that the Spirit of the Lord is involved in everything we do, and “direction,” means you are going somewhere! Together, with the Holy Spirit, you will develop your intimacy with God and find your way.
Is Spiritual Direction the same as Christian Counseling?
Spiritual direction differs from counseling primarily in its focus: the intention in spiritual direction is not to give advice or problem-solve (although this can happen), but rather to seek out and identify God’s presence and movement within any problems and throughout the rest of your life’s experience. This approach invites you into deeper relationship with God in the midst of whatever you are encountering.
